Real Madrid have reportedly rejected a €60 million bid by Manchester United for Federico Valverde and will only sell him for a much higher amount.

According to a report by Catalan outlet El Nacional, Manchester United have stepped up their efforts to sign Federico Valverde in next summer’s transfer window. The Red Devils have submitted an offer worth €60 million for the Real Madrid midfielder, but the Spanish giants have knocked back the bid, demanding around €80 million for him.

Since earning his first-team breakthrough a few years ago, Federico Valverde has been one of the most reliable performers for Real Madrid. However, with Luka Modric, Toni Kroos and Casemiro the firm first-choice options in midfield, the Uruguayan international has had to bide his time at the Santiago Bernabeu.

To date, the 23-year-old has made 118 appearances for Real Madrid, chipping in with five goals and seven assists along the way. However, there have been suggestions that Valverde could seek a move away from Real Madrid if his situation does not improve dramatically in the second half of the season. Such a development seems to have alerted Manchester United.

The interest from Manchester United is understandable, considering Paul Pogba is facing an uncertain future at the club. The French midfielder will be entering the final six months of his contract at the turn of the year, which has left Manchester United searching for a viable replacement.

Interestingly, Pogba has been heavily linked with Real Madrid, although recent reports have claimed that the Spanish giants have ceded pursuit of the Manchester United contract rebel. However, with the 2018 FIFA World Cup winner expected to depart Old Trafford, the Red Devils must sign a quality midfielder.

To that end, Valverde is a viable target for Manchester United, with the English giants stepping up their efforts to sign him. The report claims that an offer worth €60 million has been tabled, only for it to be swiftly rejected by Real Madrid.

The Merengues are currently undecided on Valverde’s future, as he remains highly rated by the decision-makers at the club. However, Real Madrid might not reject a bid in the region of €80 million. So, it remains to be seen if Manchester United decide to lodge an offer worth €80 million. If not, Valverde will be staying put at Real Madrid beyond the summer.

Hmmm, Mr President Florentino P should not sell Federico valverde we already have young talented players that will take over from aging veterans…we shouldn’t be seen wasting money or bringing in players in their twenty nine thirty…. Not a wise decision . You don’t sell players you knew that are very good to other teams only to go for them with ten times the fee
