Liverpool, Manchester City and Manchester United are among the clubs interested in the services of Sergino Dest.

A recent report from El Nacional has offered an interesting update on Sergino Dest. It appears the young right-back is not wanted by Xavi anymore, and the Barcelona coach has asked Joan Laporta to sell the player in the upcoming January transfer window.

Barcelona are aware of Dest’s clout in European football despite his struggles at Camp Nou. As such, he could be available for a fee of €30 million next month, with Manchester United, Liverpool and Manchester City among the clubs interested in his services.

Xavi’s decision to offload Dest comes in the aftermath of the club’s shocking exit from the UEFA Champions League group stage, after a 3-0 battering at the hands of Bayern. The American international was among the worst performers in that loss, notably getting completely outclassed by Alphonso Davies in the first half.

It was not the first time Dest has underperformed since joining Barcelona from Ajax last year. He has struggled to live up to expectations throughout his first 18 months at the club, while injuries haven’t been kind either.

However, that hasn’t deterred Premier League clubs from taking a look at him, with Manchester United, for one, keen on securing the services of the 21-year-old. The Red Devils are in the market for a new right-back in January – someone who can add competition for Aaron Wan-Bissaka.

Kieran Trippier remains the priority target for the English giants, but in Sergino Dest, Ralf Rangnick could find himself a cost-effective alternative who is quite familiar with his brand of football.

Another potential destination is Manchester City, who will be keen on securing an able back-up for Kyle Walker, now that Joao Cancelo has become a certified left-back under Pep Guardiola. As for Liverpool, their interest in Dest likely stems from the lack of depth in the right-back unit, especially with Neco Williams linked with an exit.

Either way, Barcelona are attempting to use the sale of Sergino Dest to boost their transfer kitty in the upcoming January transfer window. In addition to the American international, another relatively new player facing an uncertain future at Barca is Memphis Depay, which is enough to indicate that that new coach Xavi is not taking any prisoners, as the Spaniard looks to restore the club’s lost glory.
