Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich are reportedly keen on signing Federico Valverde from Real Madrid next summer.

According to a report by Spanish outlet Fichajes, Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich are interested in snapping up Federico Valverde in next summer’s transfer window. The Uruguayan midfielder is growing increasingly discontented with his position at Real Madrid.

Federico Valverde joined Real Madrid from Penarol in July 2016 and has made impressive progress since then. However, in recent years, the Uruguayan international has had to bide his time, with Luka Modric and Toni Kroos firmly ahead of him in the pecking order for midfielders at the club.

The 23-year-old has been in and out of the side this season, making 16 appearances across all competitions while raking in 966 minutes of game-time. Valverde’s inability to secure a first-choice berth in the Real Madrid midfield has left him frustrated, with his situation piquing the interest of Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich.

The interest from PSG is understandable, considering Ander Herrera and Idrissa Gueye are on the wrong side of 30, while fitness issues have bogged down Marco Verratti in recent years. In addition, Julian Draxler and Leandro Paredes are facing uncertain futures at Parc des Princes and could be on their way out of the club in the summer.

On the other hand, the eagerness of Bayern Munich is a tad-bit surprising, considering they have secured the long-term future of Leon Goretzka while also signing Marcel Sabitzer in the summer transfer window. So, it is hard to see how Valverde’s situation would improve much if he leaves Real Madrid in favour of another European giant in Bayern Munich.

In addition to Valverde, another Real Madrid midfielder in Casemiro has been linked with PSG. As far as Valverde is concerned, PSG and Bayern Munich are considering launching the offensive for him in next summer’s transfer window.

However, Liverpool and Manchester United have also shown an interest in Valverde, while Kroos and Modric are approaching the end of their glittering careers. So, it will not be surprising if Valverde stays put at Real Madrid or joins a Premier League club instead of PSG and Bayern Munich, with speculation around his future only likely to grow further if he continues to be rotated aggressively.
