Everton have initiated contact with Juventus star Aaron Ramsey, and a January move to Goodison Park could be on the horizon.

According to football journalist Daniele Longo, Everton have moved one step closer towards the potential capture of Aaron Ramsey. They have initiated contact with the Juventus playmaker regarding a January move, as Rafa Benitez looks to bolster his options in the creative department.

The Italian giants are prepared to sanction the departure of Ramsey, who had earlier rejected advances from Crystal Palace. But it appears he could fancy a move to an Everton side that has endured a difficult start to the campaign.

Almost halfway into the new season, the Toffees are indeed struggling with just 18 points on the board. Their new coach Rafa Benitez has struggled to inspire his team so far, especially in the attacking department.  They have been beset by injuries, and despite the smart addition of Demarai Gray and Andros Townsend, they simply have not been able to create that spark going forward.

The stability in midfield have also been lacking, which is why the Merseyside giants are now eyeing a move for Ramsey. With 371 competitive appearances for Arsenal, the 30-year-old is one of the most experienced British players currently available in the market.

An attacking midfielder by trade, Ramsey does indeed have the pedigree at the highest level of football. More importantly, he offers versatility in the final third, as he can operate out wide or even in a more withdrawn role.

The Welshman, though, has endured a rough spell at Juventus, scoring only six goals in 70 competitive appearances since joining the club in 2019. He will be aiming to revive his career by making his return to the Premier League, with Everton more than prepared to offer him that platform.

The Toffees, though, may still expect stiff competition in the pursuit of the Juventus star in January. Leeds United and Newcastle United, in particular, are among the other clubs in contention to sign Ramsey, meaning Everton must act swiftly in his chase.

Ramsey might not be the only Juventus player joining the Premier League next month, though, with the Bianconeri also facing a battle to keep hold of Adrien Rabiot. The Frenchman is a target for Arsenal and Newcastle United, although Juve have no intention of selling him in January.
