Barcelona defender Sergino Dest is reportedly keen on securing a transfer to Bayern Munich and has offered himself to the German champions.

According to a report from El Nacional, Barcelona defender Sergino Dest has offered his services to German giants Bayern Munich as he looks for a way out from Camp Nou.

Dest joined Barcelona in the summer of 2020 from AFC Ajax in a deal worth €21 million, plus €5 million in bonuses. However, he has failed to make his mark during his stint with the Catalan giants thus far. To date, the 21-year-old has made 57 appearances for the club, scoring three goals and contributing four assists in the process.

The USMNT star is known for his blistering pace that makes him an asset while going forward, but his defensive game leaves a lot to be desired. At the same time, his decision-making in the final third also needs a lot of polishing. As a result, he has been unable to establish himself as the undisputed starter at right-back for Barcelona and instead share game-time with Oscar Mingueza and Sergi Roberto.

There have been attempts made to use him higher up the pitch to make the most of his attacking qualities, but those have proven futile as well. With his place in the side under new manager Xavi Hernandez uncertain and the Catalans signing Dani Alves on a free transfer last month on top of that, Dest is unhappy with his situation at Camp Nou and is now seeking an exit.

The report mentioned above is now claiming that the young defender has established contact with Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich to offer himself to the club. The Bavarian giants had been interested in signing Dest before his move to Barcelona, but the 21-year-old had snubbed them and a few other clubs to move to Catalonia.

With Bouna Sarr not making the desired impression at the Allianz Arena, Die Roten could be open to the possibility of signing a new right-sided full-back to compete with Benjamin Pavard and have been linked with Real Madrid’s Dani Carvajal. Now, Dest, too, has emerged as an option, with the defender offering himself to the German champions.

Barcelona, for their part, are open to a sale, even as early as the January transfer window. However, they would likely demand a transfer fee of around €30 million for the 21-year-old former Ajax prodigy. It will now be interesting to see if Bayern Munich consider signing him, especially after his poor showing against them in the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday.
