Real Madrid have reportedly been told to fork out €20 million to sign Jeremie Frimpong from Bundesliga giants Bayer Leverkusen.

According to a report by Catalan outlet El Nacional, Real Madrid know how much they will need to pay to secure the services of Jeremie Frimpong. Bayer Leverkusen are demanding €20 million to part with the 20-year-old defender, who is viewed as a long-term replacement for Dani Carvajal.

Jeremie Frimpong joined Bayer Leverkusen in the summer transfer window this year following two productive years at Celtic. The move has worked out superbly for the Dutch under-21 international, who has established himself as a regular for the Bundesliga outfit in the ongoing campaign.

The 20-year-old defender has played every single game for Die Werkselfchipping in with two goals and six assists in 21 appearances in all competitions. His progress has not gone unnoticed, with one of the biggest clubs in the world in Real Madrid keen on signing him.

The Spanish giants have been left dismayed by the fitness issues plaguing Dani Carvajal in the past year. While the Spaniard has overcome his injury woes since returning from his latest problem, Real Madrid’s wariness is not surprising.

There have even been suggestions that Real Madrid could be open to cashing in on Carvajal, who has recently been linked with Bayern Munich. However, even if Carvajal stays put at the Santiago Bernabeu, Los Blancos need to be on the lookout for a right-back, considering Alvaro Odriozola does not seem to have much of a future at the club.

In addition, Lucas Vazquez has not been as impressive as a makeshift right-back as he was last season. With the Spaniard now largely being utilised in his traditional role of a right-winger, it is clear that Real Madrid could do with a right-back, with Frimpong emerging as a target.

Signing the 20-year-old will not pinch Real Madrid much either, as Bayer Leverkusen are demanding €20 million for him. The price tag is unlikely to be prohibitive for the Merengues, and it remains to be seen if they firm up their interest in him by launching the offensive in one of the two upcoming transfer windows.
