Ivan Perisic might be considering a move to Tottenham in the near future as a reunion with Antonio Conte looms large.

According to Patrick Berger of Sport1, Ivan Perisic is considering a move to Tottenham as Antonio Conte eyes a wide man to solve some attacking issues. The Croatian’s contract expires in the summer, and the possibility of moving away from San Siro looms large.

Ivan Perisic had one of the best seasons to date in an Inter Milan shirt under the leadership of Antonio Conte. It might not be his most prolific campaign at San Siro, but the most effective one, as he played a part in the Nerazzurri winnig the Serie A title. Since then, the manager has departed and taken over the reins at Tottenham, and a reunion might be on the cards.

Perisic has always played a wide attacking role on the left-hand side during his career. During his only season at Inter under Conte, he was used as an unorthodox wing-back, achieving a fair degree of success. The Croatian was heavily used by the Italian manager, who might find a solution in the winger again at Spurs.

Conte prefers to rely heavily on wing-backs on either side and likes specific players who can perfectly carry out his instructions. St Tottenham, he has Sergio Reguilon, Emerson Royal, Ryan Sessegnon and Matt Doherty as options in the wing-back slots. None of the four players have made a positive impression in the ongoing campaign.

Hence, he might urge technical director Fabio Paratici to find external solutions and return to their preferred market in Italy. They have already been linked with several high-profile players from Serie A ahead of the January transfer window.

Perisic has a contract until the summer and could look to move on from Italy either in the winter or at the end of the season when his deal runs out. He might be open to a move to the Premier League to test himself at the highest level.

There’s significant interest from Premier League clubs to bring him to England. However, if Spurs are to make a reasonable offer, Perisic might be tempted to reunite with Conte over at Spurs.

Inter could cash in on their veteran who would have six months left on his contract in January and might prefer a reasonable transfer fee than losing him for free in June. However, Perisic has been key to Inter’s season so far, playing 13 times in the league. It remains to be seen if the Italian champions decide to let him go or keep him for the season.

Given Conte’s admiration for Perisic and the player being open to a reunion, there could be a chance that the pair join forces again at Tottenham in 2022.
