Real Madrid are reportedly interested in signing Napoli forward Hirving Lozano, who recently revealed his desires to play for a bigger club.

According to a report from Fichajes, Real Madrid have turned their attention towards Napoli and Mexico attacker Hirving Lozano with the Serie A outfit considering a sale after recent comments from the 26-year-old when he claimed that he wanted to take the next step in his career and join a bigger team.

Lozano started his career at CF Pachuca in his homeland, Mexico, before moving to Europe in 2017, when he signed for Dutch giants PSV Eindhoven. The versatile forward was a huge hit at the club, racking up 40 goals and 23 assists in just 79 games prompting Napoli to invest €35 million to recruit him in the summer of 2019.

Lozano had a slow start to life in Italy but was back to somewhere close to his best level in the last season and has begun the ongoing campaign fairly well, too. To date, the 26-year-old has a return of 23 goals and ten assists from 96 appearances, with six of those goal involvements coming in the ongoing campaign.

Lozano’s contract with Napoli runs till the summer of 2024. However, in light of his recent comments, the Partenopei are seriously considering offloading him at the end of the season, which has seemingly attracted the interest of several clubs across Europe, including Real Madrid.

The Spanish heavyweights are on the lookout for additions to the attacking department next summer as Gareth Bale will be out of contract while there are serious question marks over the future of Marco Asensio, who has been linked with an exit in the January window itself. Furthermore, given Eden Hazard’s never-ending injury struggles mean that he, too, could be sold in the near future.

It would leave Real Madrid light in the attacking unit even though they have Rodrygo Goes, Vinicius Junior and Lucas Vazquez as options out wide. So, it becomes imperative that they bring in another wide forward in the summer. And even though Kylian Mbappe remains firmly on the agenda, signing an additional winger would only add more quality and depth to the roster at Carlo Ancelotti’s disposal.

Lozano, to that end, can be a handy signing considering that he can play anywhere in the final third even though he is primarily a right-winger. However, the report clarifies that Real Madrid would be unwilling to shell out an enormous fee for his signing. It remains to be seen how much Napoli decide to demand for the Mexican international and whether Los Blancos are open to meeting the valuation.
