Manchester United and AC Milan are reportedly among the clubs keen on signing 22-year-old Argentine defender Facundo Medina.

According to a report by Italian outlet Calciomercato, Manchester United and AC Milan are keen on signing Facundo Medina over a move in next summer’s transfer window. Marseille and Atletico Madrid are also courting the 22-year-old RC Lens defender.

Facundo Medina has established himself as one of the most reliable defenders in Ligue 1 since joining RC Lens from CA Talleres in July 2020. At the same time, his progress has also helped him break into the Argentine national side, although he is yet to become a regular feature at the back for La Albiceleste.

To date, Medina has made 39 appearances for Lens, chipping in with his four goals in the process. The 22-year-old’s exploits have not gone unnoticed, with some of the biggest clubs in Europe, including Manchester United and AC Milan, keen on signing him.

This is not the first time that Medina has been linked with Manchester United. The Premier League heavyweights hold a long-standing interest in the Argentine defender, although that was majorly before they signed Raphael Varane in the summer. However, despite the arrival of Varane, the Red Devils remain in need of bolstering their backline.

That is because Harry Maguire has been abysmal this season, while Eric Bailly has been linked with a move away from Manchester United after becoming a bit-part player this season. As a result, the English giants have been in the hunt for a centre-back, with players like Jules Kounde on their radar.

On the other hand, AC Milan must sign a central defender as there is a lot of uncertainty surrounding the future of Alessio Romagnoli. The Milan captain has been linked with a Bosman move to Barcelona and several other clubs, and his departure would force the Rossoneri to sign a replacement.

To that end, Medina is a viable target for Milan, with Marseille and Atletico Madrid also keen on signing him. With several European bigwigs chasing his signature, it remains to be seen if the 22-year-old leaves RC Lens next summer to join a giant of a club or if the Argentine defender stays put at Estadio Bollaert-Delelis.
