Clement Lenglet has reportedly been offered by Barcelona to former club Sevilla over a possible €10 million January deal.

According to a report by Catalan outlet El Nacional, Sevilla have been offered the chance to re-sign Clement Lenglet in the January transfer window. Barcelona are eager to offload the French defender this winter and will make him available for just €10 million if his former club signs him.

Clement Lenglet joined Barcelona from Sevilla in July 2018 following an impressive 2017/18 campaign at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan Stadium. The move seemed to have paid off initially, as the player established himself as a regular for the Blaugrana while also breaking into the French national side.

However, Lenglet’s stock has been on the decline after some dreadful performances in the last year. As a result, the 26-year-old has been sent tumbling down the pecking order at Barcelona. He is now only ahead of compatriot Samuel Umtiti, with Gerard Pique, Eric Garcia, Ronald Araujo, and Oscar Mingueza all favoured over him.

Lenglet has also failed to impress new Barcelona manager Xavi Hernandez and has only raked in 460 minutes of game-time this season. So, it is hardly surprising that Barcelona will not be opposed to the idea of parting with the Frenchman in the January transfer window and have even offered him to former club Sevilla.

The 26-year-old could come in handy at Sevilla, considering the backup options to Jules Kounde and Diego Carlos do not inspire much confidence. In addition, with Kounde being linked with a raft of clubs across Europe, including Barcelona, the Andalusian giants need to be on the lookout for a possible replacement.

Interestingly, Kounde has proven to be Lenglet’s replacement in a way at Sevilla, who now have the chance to bring the Barcelona defender back to the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan Stadium in a €10 million deal. Lenglet has been linked previously with Sevilla, with Monchi open to the idea of re-signing him.

However, the final decision rests with Julen Lopetegui. So, it remains to be seen if the Sevilla boss is ready to sanction a move for Lenglet, whose €10 million price tag should appeal to Los Nervionenses. For now, it looks like the 26-year-old’s days at Barcelona are numbered after failing to impress Xavi.
