Barcelona have reportedly set their sights on Leandro Trossard, with the 26-year-old Brighton & Hove Albion attacker emerging as a possible target.

According to a report by Spanish outlet Fichajes, Leandro Trossard is the subject of interest from Barcelona over a possible move in a future transfer window. The 26-year-old Brighton & Hove Albion forward has popped up on the Blaugrana’s scouting list as a candidate to play across the attacking line.

Leandro Trossard joined Brighton & Hove Albion from KRC Genk in July 2019 after being chased by several English clubs. In the last two years, the Belgian international has come leaps and bounds, establishing himself as a handy option for club and country while also being regarded as one of the most enterprising forwards in the Premier League.

To date, the 26-year-old has made 82 appearances for the Seagulls, amassing 13 goals and nine assists in the process. His record might not inspire too much confidence, but Trossard has still impressed Barcelona enough for them to consider a move for him.

The Catalan giants have been reported to be in the market for an attacking reinforcement heading into the January transfer window. To that end, the likes of Dani Olmo, Ferran Torres and Raheem Sterling are among the players on Barcelona’s radar, with the eagerness to sign such a player to bolster their frontline is not without reason.

Memphis Depay made a strong start to life at Barcelona but has been hit and miss in recent weeks. In addition, there are concerns over the fitness of Ansu Fati, who is still not at his best and has had a couple of niggling issues since recovering from a long-term knee injury.

Furthermore, Ousmane Dembele’s contract situation has put Barcelona in a precarious position, with the Frenchman in the final year of his contract and linked with PSG and Newcastle United. With Yusuf Demir’s future not set in stone and Philippe Coutinho deemed surplus to requirements, it is understandable why Barcelona must sign a wide-attacker, making Trossard a viable target.

However, it has not been mentioned whether the La Liga heavyweights are targetting a move for the 26-year-old, keeping the January transfer window in mind. Also, Brighton might charge a premium on the Belgian international judging by the transfer fee they demanded when they sold Ben White to Arsenal. So, it remains to be seen if Barcelona can afford Trossard if they decide to launch the offensive for him.
