Real Madrid are reportedly demanding €40 million to part ways with Eden Hazard in the January transfer window but are struggling to attract suitors.

According to a report by Catalan outlet El Nacional, Eden Hazard’s days at Real Madrid seem to be numbered. The Spanish giants are prepared to cash in on the Belgian international, who has been an expensive flop for them, in the January transfer window for a sum of €40 million but are unable to attract buyers.

Eden Hazard joined Real Madrid in July 2019 following a memorable seven-year spell at Chelsea. However, since arriving at Real Madrid two years ago, the dream move has turned into a nightmare for the 30-year-old, who has been blighted by a spate of injuries restricting his involvement considerably.

The same has been the case in the ongoing season, with injuries and poor form leaving Hazard as a bit-part player for Real Madrid. As a result, he has managed just 415 minutes of game time in 11 appearances across all competitions, producing just the solitary assist to show for his efforts.

His struggles have now prompted Real Madrid to name the Belgian international on their transfer list. With Hazard’s market value constantly plummeting, Los Blancos know that they will need to cut their losses on him sooner rather than later.

Recouping even half of the record sum they paid to sign the former Chelsea talisman will be impossible for Real Madrid. As a result, the Merengues have now placed a €40 million price tag on Hazard, hoping to part ways with him in the January transfer window.

However, hardly any suitors have emerged in pursuit of Hazard despite links with Juventus, Liverpool and former club Chelsea. The report claims that clubs like Bayern Munich, Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester United have already rejected the chance to sign the Real Madrid flop, with Newcastle United the only viable buyer left in his pursuit.

The interest from Newcastle United does make sense, and it has been suggested that the Magpies are willing to pay €40 million to land him. After all, despite his struggles at Real Madrid, Hazard can still be a game-changer if he can somehow get his fitness in check.

In such a scenario, he will be an upgrade on almost every Newcastle player. So, it remains to be seen if Newcastle United end up lodging a bid worth €40 million to sign Hazard, whose days at Real Madrid are seemingly numbered.
