Paris Saint-Germain have reportedly entered the race to sign Barcelona star Ousmane Dembele, who is also a target for Newcastle United.

According to El Nacional, Newcastle United are set to face fresh competition from Paris Saint-Germain in the race to sign Ousmane Dembele. The Barcelona forward has once again become an in-demand prospect in the market, with the player reportedly having second thoughts over an extended stay in Catalonia.

It appears Dembele is not happy with the terms offered by Barcelona. It has compelled him to delay talks of a renewal, which has put other top clubs across Europe on red alert. His contract, after all, expires at the end of the season, making him available for a potential free transfer next summer.

Newcastle United already consider Dembele as an ideal man to spearhead the club’s new-look attack during the second half of the campaign. They have reportedly offered the winger a bumper salary of €15 million per season plus the same amount as a signing bonus, should the player join the club on a free transfer.

However, Dembele is unsure about the prospects at Newcastle United, primarily because he believes the club may get relegated at the end of the season. The Magpies are currently dawdling at the bottom of the Premier League table, which is hurting their prospects of signing star players in January, despite the expected injection of cash.

Newcastle United are set to face a further blow in their pursuit of Dembele, with the Frenchman now emerging as a top target for PSG. Having featured in 121 competitive matches for Barcelona, the Ligue 1 giants believe that the former Dortmund star can be an ideal man to replace Kylian Mbappe, who has been linked with a move to Real Madrid.

Dembele has the experience of playing alongside Lionel Messi, while he will also relish the opportunity to play with Neymar. His status as a French international may also appease Les Parisiens, who have been guilty of signing too many foreign players lately, with their current team comprising of only one regular French international in Presnel Kimpembe.

However, it is fair to point out that Dembele has no shortage of suitors, should he opt to leave Barcelona next season. In addition to PSG and Newcastle United, the explosive winger is also a target for Manchester United, while Liverpool are considering a move as well, in light of the upcoming absences of Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane due to their impending participation at the Africa Cup of Nations.
