Liverpool, Manchester City and Manchester United are among the clubs in contention to sign Aston Villa whizkid Carney Chukweumeka.

According to The Guardian, Aston Villa are on the verge of losing out on star talent Carney Chukwuemeka. The youngster has grown frustrated with his lack of first-team opportunities at Villa Park and is ready to take the next step in his career. His situation has now put multiple top clubs on red alert, including Liverpool and the two Manchester giants.

Regarded as one of England’s most talented young players, Chukwuemeka started his youth career in Northampton before moving to Aston Villa in 2016. While working his way up to the Villa’s youth program, the midfielder soon became a force to be reckoned with in the lower leagues, and it was not only a matter of time when he made his professional debut at the end of last season.

The new season offered hope for Chukwuemeka, who remained at Villa Park in the summer despite interest from Liverpool. He chose to prolong his stay at the club in hope of getting first-team opportunities in the Premier League.

However, as we head towards December, the youngster has made only one appearance in the Premier League. His other two competitive appearances came in the Carabao Cup, leading to much frustration from the player’s end.

Chukwuemeka’s precarious situation at Villa Park have put Liverpool on red alert once again. The Reds were among the clubs in contention to sign the midfielder earlier in the year and are now prepared to offer him a platform to showcase his talents in the Premier League.

It is no secret that the Merseysiders are in the market for reinforcements in the midfield department, having struggled with the injuries of Curtis Jones and Naby Keita, while Thiago Alcantara is facing an uncertain future at the club amid interest from Barcelona.

Manchester City, too, have registered interest in the 18-year-old, who is likely being considered as a potential long-term replacement for Fernandinho. The Citizens have not been shy when it comes to expressing the desire to sign academy talents this season, having also been linked with a move for PSG prodigy Xavi Simons.

Another club in contention to Chukwuemeka is Manchester United. The Red Devils arguably have the best track record of nurturing young talents over the past five years and given their midfield conundrum this season, a move to Old Trafford might not be a bad option for the teenage prospect, as he looks to make his breakthrough in professional football.
