Isco has reportedly offered his services to Atletico Madrid through his representatives, but the reigning La Liga champions are unlikely to sign the Real Madrid outcast.

According to a report by Catalan outlet El Nacional, Atletico Madrid have been offered the chance to sign Isco when his Real Madrid contract expires next summer. However, the defending La Liga champions are not expected to take up the offer due to the drop in his performance levels and the high salary he will demand.

Isco joined Real Madrid from Malaga in July 2013 amid a lot of hype surrounding him after he had won the Golden Boy award in 2012. However, the Spaniard has only managed to impress in spurts, not helped by the presence of stalwarts like Luka Modric, Toni Kroos and Casemiro, which has robbed him of any opportunity to feature prominently.

Things have gone from bad to worse for Isco at Real Madrid in recent years as he has become a complete bit-part player and hardly ever makes appearances off the bench. That also holds for this season, with the 29-year-old amassing only seven outings for a grand total of 176 minutes. As a result, he is no longer in contention for a spot on the Spanish national side.

With his Real Madrid contract winding down next summer, Isco is set to end his frustrating stint with the club. And if he has his way, the out-of-favour midfielder could be on his way across the Spanish capital to join Atletico Madrid, having offered them the chance to sign him.

Seldom do Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid trade players between them, although, in recent years, there have been a couple of instances. Theo Hernandez joined Los Blancos while Marcos Llorente went the other way to join Atletico Madrid, where he has had a memorable stint thus far.

The reigning La Liga champions have been linked with a few Real Madrid players of late, including out-of-favour striker Mariano Diaz. And Isco has now offered Atletico Madrid a chance to sign him through his representatives.

The Colchoneros have recently been linked with a few midfielders amid the uncertainty surrounding the future of Hector Herrera. In addition, Saul Niguez could also depart the Wanda Metropolitano, so Atletico Madrid could do with a midfielder and have been linked with players like Youri Tielemans and Marcelo Brozovic, among others.

However, Atletico Madrid will not sign Isco, as his performance levels have dropped significantly while his wage demands are also proving to be his undoing. The Real Madrid outcast has also been linked with Barcelona previously, and it remains to be seen where his career takes him next, with Atletico Madrid unlikely to secure his services.
