Real Madrid are reportedly ready to offer a part-exchange deal, including Isco to sign Wesley Fofana, also a target for Chelsea.

According to a report by Catalan outlet El Nacional, Real Madrid believe they have an ace up their sleeves to secure the services of Wesley Fofana. The Spanish giants are willing to offer a part-exchange deal including Isco and €40 million to sign the Leicester City defender, who Chelsea is also courting.

Wesley Fofana joined Leicester City from Saint-Etienne in October 2020 and took no time to establish a foothold in the first-team setup at the King Power Stadium. However, after a strong start to life with the Foxes, the youngster suffered a major setback ahead of the ongoing season, as a leg fracture has rendered him sidelined.

To date, the 20-year-old has made 38 appearances for Leicester City, and despite his long injury layoff, he remains a highly-rated defender. So, it is hardly surprising that Real Madrid and Chelsea are hot on Fofana’s trail.

The interest from Real Madrid makes sense, considering they did not replenish the void left by the departures of Sergio Ramos and Raphael Varane. David Alaba was the only defensive player added to the Real Madrid squad in the summer, so the addition of a centre-back is imperative.

To that end, several centre-backs have emerged as targets for Los Blancos, including Sevilla centre-back Jules Kounde, Juventus ace Matthijs de Ligt and Chelsea defender Antonio Rudiger. And Fofana is also a viable target for Real Madrid. Speaking of Chelsea, the Blues have been reported to be in pursuit of the 20-year-old, having established contact with him.

Like Real Madrid, Chelsea might need to sign a centre-back next summer, as Rudiger is in the final year of his contract with the club, while Andreas Christensen is no closer to signing a renewal. Christensen is expected to sign a new deal with Chelsea, but Rudiger’s uncertain future could force the west Londoners into the market for a central defender.

However, according to the report, Chelsea are ending their interest in Fofana, leaving Real Madrid in a promising position to land him. And the Spanish giants have engineered a part-exchange deal, which will include Isco and €40 million cash to secure the services of the 20-year-old.

The out-of-favour Real Madrid midfielder has been linked with Leicester City recently, so the offer mentioned above could well do the trick. So, it remains to be seen if the Foxes are tempted by Real Madrid’s offer of a part-exchange deal to include Isco or if they are told to place a higher bid to sign Fofana.
