Real Madrid and Manchester City are reportedly tracking the situation of Mason Mount, who is not entirely happy at Chelsea.

According to a report by Spanish outlet Fichajes, Mason Mount is the subject of interest from Real Madrid and Manchester City over a move in a future transfer window. The two European giants are closely monitoring the English playmaker’s situation at Chelsea.

Mason Mount is a rare success story of a player who has graduated from the famed Chelsea academy to become an established first-team superstar. Under the tutelage of Frank Lampard, the Blues finally shed their image of failing to make talented youngsters in their youth setup into the senior side, with Mount being at the forefront of this revolution.

To date, the 22-year-old has made 120 appearances for Chelsea, chipping in with 20 goals and 17 assists in the process. However, according to the report, Mount is not entirely happy at Chelsea, with the situation alerting some of the biggest clubs in the world in Real Madrid and Manchester City.

The interest from Real Madrid is understandable, considering Luka Modric is in the twilight of his glittering career. In addition, Toni Kroos is approaching the final phase of his playing days. So,while Los Blancos signed Eduardo Camavinga in the summer, they will need to sign a creative midfielder soon enough.

To that end, Mount is a viable target for Real Madrid, who are facing stiff competition from Manchester City in pursuit of the Chelsea playmaker. However, the interest from the Premier League champions is perplexing to a great extent, as their urgent need is for a striker instead of a playmaker.

It is worth noting that Manchester City added a creative asset in Jack Grealish in the summer transfer window. And with Bernardo Silva no longer unsettled at the Etihad, the need to sign a playmaker has been alleviated. Instead, the Citizens should be pursuing a move for a striker, having failed to sign Harry Kane in the previous window.

Apart from Real Madrid and Manchester City, Bayern Munich are also keeping tabs on Mount’s situation at Chelsea. However, the very premise that Mount is discontent at Chelsea seems to be inexplicable. So, it remains to be seen if the English international wishes to leave Chelsea, bringing Real Madrid, Manchester City and Bayern Munich into the picture.
