Manchester United are keeping tabs on the situation of Napoli winger Hirving Lozano, who could soon leave Napoli.

According to Fichajes, Manchester United are one of two clubs closely monitoring Hirving Lozano’s situation. The Napoli winger’s future at the club has come under the microscope following his recent comments about the club, hinting that the Partenopei are not among the biggest clubs in the European footballing scene.

It has raised animosity between the player and the fans, with Lozano now tipped to move on from Napoli in the near future. Once regarded as the eternal talent of Mexican football, Lozano had initially arrived in Naples back in 2019 for a hefty fee of €35 million.

During his ongoing two and a half year spell in Italy, the winger has made almost 100 competitive appearances for Napoli, scoring 23 goals while supplying nine assists. One would argue that his numbers are quite underwhelming given the player’s talent and endless potential.

It has been a common observation so far from fans and experts alike, with the 26-year-old yet to even establish himself as a guaranteed starter at Napoli. His status has improved under new coach Luciano Spalletti, but the Italian tactician has lately preferred Matteo Politano on the right flank.

It is fair to point out that Lozano’s role at Napoli could improve, in case Lorenzo Insigne leaves the club, amid interest from Newcastle United. But it remains likely that the Mexican international will leave the club first, with Manchester United prepared to open the doors for him in the Premier League.

It appears the former PSV Eindhoven starlet has been identified as an ideal option to help the club further strengthen their attacking unit and offer more competition for the likes of Jadon Sancho, Marcus Rashford and Mason Greenwood. He could also be a direct replacement for Amad Diallo, who is a target for Barcelona and may leave Manchester United in January.

Even Donny van de Beek and Jesse Lingard are candidates to leave the club sooner or later, which does open an opportunity for Manchester United to invest in a fresh star such as Hirving Lozano. The Mexican’s direct style of play could tune in well with the nature of English football, although it remains to be seen how much Napoli demand for the services of their star forward.
