Mariano Diaz has reportedly been offered to Atletico Madrid through his representatives, but the La Liga champions will not sign the Real Madrid forward.

According to a report by Catalan outlet El Nacional, Mariano Diaz is eager to call it quits at Real Madrid after failing to feature regularly for the Merengues. The 28-year-old forward has been offered to local rivals Atletico Madrid, but Los Rojiblancos have no intention of signing him.

Mariano Diaz is currently in his second stint with Real Madrid, having returned to the club in 2018 following a one-year term with Lyon. However, as was the case in his maiden spell with Real Madrid, the player has struggled to establish a foothold in the first-team setup, mostly sufficing with rare starts and minutes off the bench.

The same has been the case for the 28-year-old this season, as he has only made one appearance for Real Madrid in the ongoing campaign. Mariano’s frustrations have finally boiled over after three years of sporadic outings, and he is keen on leaving Los Blancos at the earliest opportunity. And he has now offered his signing to Atletico Madrid through his representatives.

Atletico Madrid have also been linked with Mariano previously, having considered signing him in the summer. According to widespread reports, the reigning La Liga champions are scouring the transfer market for a striker, with Luis Suarez approaching the end of his glittering career.

To that end, strikers like Mohamed-Ali Cho, Karim Adeyemi and Julian Alvarez have been linked with Atletico Madrid. However, according to El Nacional, the Colchoneros do not wish to sign a striker after signing Matheus Cunha in the summer.

The Brazilian’s addition means Diego Simeone has more than enough striker at his disposal, even though the 22-year-old is yet to set the stage alight. So, Atletico Madrid will not take up the option to sign Mariano Diaz from Real Madrid.

The 28-year-old wishes to remain in the Spanish capital, which is why he had offered his signing to Atletico Madrid. However, with the defending La Liga champions uninterested in securing his services, it remains to be seen what the future holds for Mariano. For now, he is staying put at Real Madrid, where his frustrations are bound to continue.
