Noussair Mazraoui could be at the centre of a transfer battle between several clubs with Manchester City, Arsenal and Leeds United keen on signing him.
According to Eurosport, Noussair Mazraoui is attracting plenty of interest with clubs across the Premier League lining up a move for the highly-rated right-back. Manchester City have entered the race for the Ajax star and joined Arsenal and Leeds United, among others in pursuit of the Morrocan.
Noussair Mazraoui is one of the players plenty of clubs have an eye on ahead of the next transfer window. The Morrocan has a contract that expires in the summer and considering the interest from elsewhere, he might take his chances by not signing an extension.
The versatile star’s contractual situation has not affected his game-time, with Erik ten Hag preferring to start with him in all of Ajax’s league games this season. Moreover, his output has been tremendous, with the right-back scoring four goals and providing three assists in Eredivisie this campaign.
Real Madrid are rumoured to be eyeing a free transfer for the right-back when the season ends. Barcelona are also interested in his services, although England could become his preferred destination if genuine offers come from Premier League sides.
Manchester City are the latest team to show an interest. While Pep Guardiola has a well-stocked selection of right-backs, he may not necessarily have a quality cover. The Catalan manager prefers to play Joao Cancelo in the left-back position, which leaves Kyle Walker as the only reliable option on the right flank.
Signing Mazraoui would help him add depth in the position, while the Morrocan could be the long-term heir to Walker at right-back. His attacking output certainly might entice the manager to explore the idea of bringing him to Manchester.
Arsenal are also reportedly in the race for the Morrocan. Mikel Arteta may have resolved their glaring issues in the position by signing Takehiro Tomiyasu, but he still does not have an attacking right-back in his ranks since the departure of Hector Bellerin.
While Tomiyasu might be a solid option on the flank, he is more defence-minded and barely makes forward runs to join the attack. Mazraoui might provide the Spaniard with another option in games where a defensive right-back might not be the solution.
Finally, Leeds are also thought to have enquired with representatives and explored the possibility of signing Mazraoui in January or next summer. The Whites have had a defensive crisis throughout this season, and Marcelo Bielsa would benefit by making a quality addition or two to offset those problems.
In any case, the future of Mazraoui looks bright, considering the quality of clubs vying for his signature. He could advance his career away from Amsterdam and become a key figure in one of the big clubs in either the Premier League or Spain.
