Real Madrid have reportedly knocked back a bid worth €30 million from AS Roma for 30-year-old Spanish forward Lucas Vazquez.

According to a report by Catalan outlet El Nacional, AS Roma have faced a setback in pursuit of Lucas Vazquez. Real Madrid have rejected a bid worth €30 million for the 30-year-old forward, with president Florentino Perez unwilling to listen to any offers for him.

Lucas Vazquez joined Real Madrid’s famed academy La Fabrica from Ural in 2007 before making swift progress through the ranks at the club. His big break for Los Blancos came in the 2015/16 season and since then, he has proven to be a valuable asset for them.

To date, the 30-year-old has made 253 appearances for Real Madrid while chipping in with 27 goals and 54 assists in the process. In recent years, Vazquez has also impressed with his ability to play as a right-back, coming in great use in the absence of Dani Carvajal due to various injuries. His exploits have also generated a lot of interest, with AS Roma among his current suitors.

The interest from AS Roma is understandable, considering Carles Perez does not enjoy the faith of Jose Mourinho. In addition, Henrikh Mkhitaryan is facing an uncertain future at Stadio Olimpico after growing disillusioned with his role under the former Real Madrid manager.

As a result, the Giallorossi have shown an eagerness to sign a wide attacker in the January transfer window, with Vazquez emerging as a key target. The 30-year-old Spanish forward is not the only Real Madrid star linked with Roma either, with Nacho, Dani Carvajal and Luka Jovic also on the Serie A giants’ radar.

As for the pursuit of Vazquez, Roma have been prepared to offer €30 million to secure his services in the January transfer window. However, Real Madrid have no intention of cashing in on the player, with Florentino Perez determined to keep hold of the utility man.

While Carlo Ancelotti would not mind selling the Spaniard, the Real Madrid president is insistent that the club keep hold of him. So, following such a development, it remains to be seen if AS Roma follow up with a new bid for Vazquez or if the 30-year-old stays put at Real Madrid beyond the January transfer window.
