Barcelona have reportedly contacted Karim Adeyemi’s agent Manfred Schwabl, who is believed to have solid contacts at the club.

According to reputed German journalist Florian Plettenburg, Barcelona have taken the first steps towards securing the services of Karim Adeyemi. Manfred Schwabl, the 19-year-old German attacking sensation’s agent, has established contact with the Catalan giants and is rumoured to have good relations with the club.

Karim Adeyemi is the latest prodigious talent from Red Bull Salzburg to have become a coveted figure in the transfer market. The teenage prodigy is a part of a surreal conveyor belt of strikers that the Austrian giants possess, with the German international filling Patson Daka’s void ably.

The 19-year-old attacking sensation has superbly kicked off the 2021/22 season, with 15 goals and two assists in 22 appearances across all competitions. The player’s exploits have not gone unnoticed, with the who’s who of European football hot on his trail. And one of his prospective suitors are Barcelona.

There have been rumours that Barcelona had the chance to sign Adeyemi in 2019 but failed to secure his services back then. The interest has not waned since, with the Blaugrana still harbouring hopes of landing the German forward in the wake of their desperate search for attacking reinforcements.

A striker is an urgent need of the hour for Barcelona following the heart ailment contracted by Sergio Aguero. With Martin Braithwaite also on the sidelines for a considerable period and Luuk de Jong proving to be a dud, it goes without saying that Barcelona must sign a striker.

To that end, Adeyemi is a viable target for Barcelona, with recent reports suggesting he is a January target for the club. And it has now emerged that the Catalan giants have already begun discussions with the 19-year-old’s agent Manfred Schwabl, who is believed to have strong relations with them.

However, despite Barcelona’s strong interest in Adeyemi, it is widely reported that Borussia Dortmund are the favourites to snap him up. With that in mind, it remains to be seen if Barcelona can claw their way back in the race to sign the German teenage sensation, who continues to go from strength to strength for Red Bull Salzburg.
