West Ham United are set to make another effort to try and lure Jesse Lingard back to London Stadium in the January transfer window.

According to Transfer Market Web, West Ham United have rekindled their interest in Jesse Lingard. The high-flying London giants are ready to offer the Englishman an opportunity to put an end to his Manchester United misery by returning to London Stadium in the upcoming January transfer window.

West Ham were interested in signing Lingard even in the summer after the playmaker had enjoyed a brilliant loan spell under David Moyes during the second half of last season. Unfortunately, the player opted to stay put at Old Trafford in an attempt to fight for his place in Manchester United’s first-team.

Unsurprisingly, Lingard has failed to displace Bruno Fernandes and Paul Pogba at Manchester United this season. It has resulted in the Englishman majorly spending time on the bench alongside Donny van de Beek while mustering only 63 minutes of action in the Premier League so far.

Their fortunes could still yet change, should Manchester United opt to axe Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. However, a return to West Ham appears to be a safer bet for Lingard, who has proven himself under David Moyes and will have the opportunity to rekindle his offensive partnership with Michail Antonio.

The Hammers are already flying high in the Premier League this season. With 23 points in just eleven matches, West Ham are crashing the title race and are considerably ahead of Manchester United in the standings. The prospect of featuring in the knockout stages of the Europa League could further appeal to Lingard, who will be desperate to secure regular game-time during the second half of the campaign.

That said, the Englishman has no shortage of suitors. In fact, it is Everton who are reportedly leading the race to sign the Manchester United playmaker in January. It appears the player is keen on remaining in the North-West, which does give the Toffees the advantage in this transfer pursuit.

As for Manchester United, they will be keen on offloading Lingard in January so they can receive fair compensation in exchange for his services. The 28-year-old might not be the only playmaker leaving Old Trafford either, with Donny van de Beek also emerging as a potential target for multiple clubs across Europe, including Juventus.
