Barcelona are reportedly interested in signing English under-19 international Daniel Jebbison from Sheffield United.

According to a report by Spanish outlet Fichajes, Daniel Jebbison has popped up on the radar of Barcelona over a move in a future transfer window. The English under-19 international, who is currently on loan at Burton Albion from Sheffield United, is also being courted by Borussia Dortmund.

Daniel Jebbison is a native of Canada and spent most of his formative years at Ontario-based ANB Futbol before completing his footballing education at Sheffield United. And after a short loan spell at Chorley, the 18-year-old earned his big break with the Blades earlier this year in May.

On a season-long loan spell at Burton Albion, Jebbison has continued his progress with the League One outfit, scoring three goals in 11 appearances so far. The English under-19 international’s progress has duly been noted by some of the biggest clubs in Europe, with Barcelona being among his prospective suitors.

Barcelona are reportedly in the market for a striker heading into the January transfer window, albeit one who could hit the ground running. While Jebbison does not necessarily fit in the profile, he could be a long-term option if the Blaugrana firm up their interest in him next summer.

As far as the January transfer window is concerned, Barcelona have been forced to dip their toes in the transfer market following Sergio Aguero’s medical issue. With Martin Braithwaite also on the sidelines and Luuk de Jong failing to impress since arriving on loan from Sevilla, it is clear that a striker is the need of the hour for Barcelona.

To that end, the Catalan giants have been linked with Timo Werner, Alexandre Lacazette and Edinson Cavani, among others. As far as the interest in Jebbison is concerned, Barcelona are merely keeping tabs on his progress and could launch the offensive for him next summer.

In addition to Barcelona, Borussia Dortmund are also hot on the trail of the English under-19 international. The interest makes sense considering the uncertainty surrounding Erling Haaland, who is coincidentally a target for Barcelona. What now remains to be seen is if either of the two European heavyweights makes their move for Jebbison or if some other club emerges in his pursuit.
