Tottenham Hotspur are ready to rival AC Milan in the race to sign Charles De Ketelaere in the upcoming January transfer window.
According to a report from Calciomercato, Tottenham Hotspur have entered the market for Charles De Ketelaere. The Club Brugge youngster is highly favoured by the club’s newly-appointed head coach Antonio Conte.
De Ketelaere is also a target for AC Milan, who consider him as an ideal attacking reinforcement option in mid-season. But they are set to face stiff competition from Tottenham as the two clubs look to snap up the highly talented youngster in the upcoming January transfer window.
A native of Bruges, De Ketelaere is considered as one of the brightest prospects in Belgian football at the moment. The young forward has enjoyed a rapid rise to prominence since his promotion to Club Brugge’s senior side in 2019.
In close to two and a half years, the 20-year-old has notched up almost 100 competitive appearances for Club Brugge. While his tally of 12 goals might not be eye-catching, his overall contributions have been far greater, including the 14 assists.
More importantly, De Ketelaere is rapidly improving himself as a striker. Eight of his 26 goal involvements for Brugge have come in the new season so far. His contributions in front of goal have been critical in helping his team remain on par with Royal Antwerp and Royale Union Saint-Gilloise, in the exciting title race this season.
The young sensation had also notably registered a vital assist in his club’s impressive win over RB Leipzig in this season’s Champions League. His performances haven’t gone unnoticed either, with Tottenham considering the youngster as an ideal alternative for Harry Kane.
The Englishman could leave Spurs at the end of the season, after his failed move this past summer. His departure could create a massive void in the club’s offensive unit. A centre-forward by trade, De Ketelaere is not a direct replacement for Kane, but he certainly has the talent as well as the potential to become an asset for the club in the final third.
The Belgian international does indeed provide more variety in attack, which should make him an ideal strike partner for Son Heung-min. However, he isn’t the only option for Spurs, who are also in the market for another exciting attacker in Darwin Nunez.
De Ketelaere himself has Milan as a potential alternative, should he opt to leave Club Brugge in January. The Rossoneri certainly have vacancies in the offensive unit as they look to prepare for future without ageing stars like Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Olivier Giroud.
