Sevilla have set their sights on Arsenal forward Alexandre Lacazette, who is set to leave Emirates for free next summer.

According to Fichajes, Sevilla have become the latest club to be linked with a move for Alexandre Lacazette. The Arsenal star has garnered quite the attention in the market due to his contract situation. His current deal at Emirates expires at the end of the season, with multiple clubs vying for his services.

Sevilla are primarily eyeing a move for Lacazette due to his potential status as a free agent next season. It is apparent that Monchi does not intend to pay a large sum for an individual. They are also preparing for life without star striker Youssef En-Nesyri, who has been linked with a move to West Ham.

Lacazette has emerged as a subject of major interest for FC Barcelona. It appears the newly-appointed head coach Xavi Hernandez wants to sign him in the January transfer window, but Arsenal have reportedly slapped a €10 million price tag on the player.

After a slow start to the season, the former Olympique Lyon forward has become a vital part of the Arsenal attack. Mikel Arteta has expertly used him in a withdrawn role alongside Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, adding much more versatility to the team’s offensive unit.

Lacazette, though, hasn’t impressed enough to remain a part of the Arsenal setup in the future. He has struggled with a lack of game-time and could very well be on his way out when his contract expires at the end of the season.

It has put Sevilla on red alert, with the club’s sporting director, Monchi, keen on adding reinforcements in the final third. Lacazette could be an ideal option due to his vast experience at the highest level of football. He also offers a lot of work rate and aggression in the final third, while the striker can be lethal in front of goal as well.

However, given the Frenchman’s current contract situation, Arsenal will certainly push for a January exit in order to receive a small compensation for the transfer. Barcelona and Sevilla, on the other hand, might decide to be patient in their pursuit of the talented forward, whose potential status as a free agent would make him one of the most appealing options in the market next summer.
