Serie A giants AC Milan remain keen on securing Manchester City star Bernardo Silva and are targeting a move for him in the January transfer window.

According to Transfermarketweb, Serie A giants AC Milan are keen on Manchester City star Bernardo Silva heading into the 2022 January transfer window.

The Portuguese international looked to be on his way out of the Etihad earlier this summer. However, City found no takers for the 27-year-old, who was valued at €40million. Silva, to his credit, has gone on to make his response on the field. He has made 15 appearances for the club in all competitions this season, missing just one Premier League clash in the process.

If anything, his performances have been enough to make any team on the fence keen to sign him amplify their interest. A versatile player who keeps things ticking in midfield, Silva also makes numerous run upfield to much success. This is a godsend for Milan who lost Hakan Calhanoglu last summer and also could potentially see France Kessie leave in 2022.

Securing Silva will see them bring in a real talent who is already proven at the highest level. The 27-year-old’s experience of winning the Premier League also holds him in good stead ahead of a potential switch to San Siro. Stefano Pioli’s side are currently second in the league behind league leaders Napoli on goal difference.

The Rossoneri are putting up a real title challenge for the first time in years, and bringing in the right players in January could give them the perfect push. Silva’s experience of winning major trophies with City will be a welcome addition to a Milan side looking to get back to their former glory. While they are still some way away from achieving it, securing players of Silva’s stature is the right way to go.

Meanwhile, it remains to be seen if his newfound importance at the Etihad will prompt City to keep hold of him. Silva is emerging as a key player for Pep Guardiola’s side, who are looking to defend their Premier League title. The Portuguese international was one of their best players in the 2-0 win over local rivals Manchester United in the derby.

Whether he has played his way back into contention remains to be seen. Either way, the 27-year-old midfielder appears to have given his career a new lease of life. What exactly it will bring him in the seasons to come remains to be seen.
