Real Madrid have been handed a major blow in pursuit of Yeremi Pino, with the 19-year-old prodigy set to commit his future to Villarreal.

According to a report by Catalan outlet El Nacional, Yeremi Pino is set to commit his long-term future to Villarreal, who will tie him down to a six-year contract running till June 30, 2027. Such a development has come as a blow to Real Madrid, who were willing to trigger the 19-year-old’s €35 million release clause.

Yeremi Pino has been with Villarreal since arriving from UD Las Palmas in 2017. The teenage prodigy progressed through the ranks rapidly before making his first-team debut for the Yellow Submarine last season. Since then, he has come leaps and bounds, becoming a regular under Unai Emery.

So far in his Villarreal career, the 19-year-old has made 52 appearances while garnering nine goals and four assists in the process. At the same time, he has also broken into the Spanish national side, while his progress at the club level has also piqued the interest of some prominent clubs in Europe. One of his prospective suitors are Real Madrid.

The interest from Real Madrid is hardly surprising, even though Kylian Mbappe is a priority target for them. That is because there is a possibility that Los Blancos could offload multiple wide attacking players in one of the two upcoming transfer windows.

While Gareth Bale is surely playing in his final season for Real Madrid, Eden Hazard could be deemed surplus to requirements due to his continued fitness woes. Finally, Marco Asensio could also be offloaded as he continues to blow hot and cold on the pitch.

So, Real Madrid could be put in a situation where they need to bolster their attack even after theoretically signing Kylian Mbappe. Therefore, Yeremi Pino is a viable target for the Merengues, who have reportedly been open to triggering the €35 million release clause in his current deal with Villarreal.

However, the 19-year-old Spanish prodigy is set to snub Real Madrid in favour of signing a new contract with their La Liga rivals Villarreal. The Yellow Submarine look set to tie Yeremi Pino down to a new deal that will run through to June 30. 2027, with the release clause being bumped to €80 million. As for Real Madrid, they must now turn their attention elsewhere in search of an attacking reinforcement.
