Real Madrid will reportedly have to shell out a sum of €45 million for the signing of Pedro Porro, who is currently on loan at Sporting CP from Manchester City.

According to a report from El Nacional, Real Madrid have learnt how much it would cost them to secure the signing of Manchester City right-back Pedro Porro, who is out on loan at Sporting CP.

Porro started at the Rayo Vallecano youth setup before switching to Girona in 2017. He spent two years with the Spanish outfit and showed good progression before Manchester City snapped him up in 2019, only to immediately loan him out to Real Valladolid. While the 22-year-old did not impress with them, things turned around for him when he signed for Sporting CP on loan last year.

Porro enjoyed a fine campaign and played a crucial role in the Lions’ Primeira Liga triumph. The Spaniard is still with the Portuguese champions, having signed on a two-year-long loan deal and has made 51 appearances to date, scoring six goals and setting up three more. The full-back’s rise in stature earned him a call-up to the Spanish national team in March earlier this year.

Sporting have the option to sign Porro permanently for a paltry sum of €8.5 million, which they are expected to trigger shortly, even though Manchester City had hoped to have him back at the Etihad after being impressed by his development. But, the Portuguese outfit already have a contract sorted with the 22-year-old, who will be signing a deal worth €1.8 million per year till 2025, with a release clause of €45 million.

And, as per the report, Real Madrid are very much interested in signing the right-back but will need to match the aforementioned release clause amount to secure his signing. It is claimed that Los Blancos have been closely watching Porro’s development for a while now and are looking to make a swoop as they eye a long-term replacement for Dani Carvajal.

The veteran Spaniard has struggled with fitness issues for a good part of the last couple of seasons, while Alvaro Odriozola is no longer part of the club’s plans. Lucas Vazquez has been used as a makeshift right-back, but a club like Real Madrid must have a proper, out-and-out right-back in the squad, with Carvajal likely to be phased out of the first-team slowly if his problems persist.

To that end, Carlo Ancelotti & co. have been linked with several right-backs recently, with Porro among the options being considered. While the 22-year-old is expected to make his transfer to Sporting permanent imminently, the Portuguese champions would not be averse to selling him, as long as the release clause amount is meant, which would mean they stand to make a large profit.

What now remains to be seen is if Real Madrid are willing to match the €45 million figure to land the Manchester City loanee next year or decide to pursue cheaper alternatives.
