Tottenham Hotspur starlet Jack Clarke is privy to interest from EFL Championship quartet amidst uncertain future in North London.
According to TEAMtalk, Tottenham Hotspur starlet Jack Clarke is attracting attention from several Championship sides who are keen to land his services in the January transfer window.
The 20-year-old joined the North London giants from Leeds United in the summer of 2019. He has since largely spent his time out on loan. Clarke has had three different loan spells at Leeds, Queens Park Rangers and Stoke City, all with varying levels of success.
The youngster has featured predominantly for the Spurs’ reserve side this season. Despite all the promise, Clarke has just four first-team appearances for the Lilywhites to his name. He is yet to score or assist a single goal for the club’s first team.
Clarke is at an age where he should find playing time easier to come by. The chances of that occurring at Spurs look bleak at the moment. Whether it is time for Daniel Levy and co. to bite the bullet regarding the 20-year-old remains to be seen.
A spell at a lower league club, away from the spotlight, could be what Clarke needs to get his career back on track. Barnsley, Derby County, Millwall and Luton Town are all keeping tabs on the player’s progress. Whether a loan move is on the cards or a permanent one remains to be seen.
Spurs paid £10 million for Clarke’s services and have so far not received the value he represents. If anything, it can be argued that his career has taken a step back. With Antonio Conte now at the helm, the young winger could be handed a new chance. However, it is far from a given, and there are plenty of attackers ahead of him in the senior side’s pecking order.
Competing against Steven Bergwijn, Lucas Moura and Son Heung-min, among others, is no mean task. Clarke is in no position to stake a claim for himself at a top English side. The Championship is demanding, but it could provide the youngster with just the platform he needs to rekindle his flame.
Clarke’s contract at Spurs runs until 2023. He has not made any Premier League appearance for the club or even made a matchday squad. At 20, the youngster has his best years ahead of him and can prove to be an excellent player for the right team using the right system. Unfortunately, if history is anything to go by, he and Spurs are a bad fit.
