Tottenham could be closing in on Franck Kessie, with a pre-contract agreement looking imminent in January ahead of a summer switch.

According to journalist Rudy Galetti, Tottenham are closing in on the capture of Franck Kessie, as the north Londoners want to sign the midfielder to a pre-contract agreement in January. Salaries have been mentioned as the Ivorian looks ready to make a big move to the Premier League.

Franck Kessie has established himself as a top-quality midfielder since joining Milan from Atalanta. He has developed into one of the most highly-rated midfielders in Europe. Naturally, plenty of Premier League sides are on his trail, although AC Milan are trying their best to retain him.

The big problem for Milan is his contract which is due to expire in the summer. Kessie has so far not shown an indication of signing a new deal with the club, as he looks for a big, lucrative contract. It’s unclear whether the Rossoneri can afford his demands, which could swing his future towards England.

There is also reported interest from Real Madrid, but it looks that it is Tottenham who are willing to meet Kessie’s demands of €10 million per year, something Milan certainly cannot afford at the moment.

As Rudy Galetti tweeted out, Spurs could now be closing in on the midfielder. Plans at the club have been accelerated this week after Antonio Conte was appointed as their new manager. The Italian is expected to urge the club to sign specific players to build a squad in his own image, and Kessie is someone he admires very much.

Galetti insists Tottenham are prepared to pay €10 million-a-year to Kessie as they target a pre-0contract agreement in January. The midfielder will then be able to move on a free transfer when the summer window opens.

Spurs’ lack a player of Kessie’s quality in midfield and could surely make do with one. The reports of him close to signing for Spurs might come as a surprise at this moment, but a clearer picture should emerge soon.

There might be other clubs who could offer him similar wages. As we approach January, Kessie might have more offers on the table from bigger clubs. He will have to decide on his future soon, and if Spurs get their man, it will be one of their biggest coup in recent history.
