Borussia Dortmund are reportedly ready to hand Andriy Lunin an escape route out of Real Madrid, with a summer move being lined up.

According to a report by Spanish outlet Fichajes, Andriy Lunin is growing increasingly frustrated with his situation at Real Madrid. And Bundesliga giants Borussia Dortmund are ready to offer the Ukrainian goalkeeper a way out of the Santiago Bernabeu, as they prepare an offer for next summer’s transfer window.

Andriy Lunin joined Real Madrid from Zorya Luhansk in the summer of 2018, arriving at the club amid a lot of hype surrounding him. However, with Thibaut Courtois going from strength to strength at the club during the same period, chances have unfortunately come few and far between for the 22-year-old.

Instead, he has been sent out on loan to three different clubs, with only the switch to Real Oviedo working out to some extent. As for his stint with Real Madrid, Lunin has managed just one outing for the Spanish giants, which came in last season’s shock Copa del Rey third round defeat to CD Alcoyano.

With Courtois at the peak of his powers currently, it looks highly unlikely that Lunin will be able to establish a foothold in the first-team setup at the Santiago Bernabeu for a few years. That is why the Ukrainian international is keen on calling it quits at Real Madrid, with Borussia Dortmund being one of his suitors.

The interest from Dortmund, though, comes as a major surprise. That is because they have already signed a goalkeeper this past summer in the form of Gregor Kobel, who, at 23, should offer close to a decade at the very least to the Bundesliga giants.

In addition, Marco Rose also has Roman Burki and Marwin Hitz at his disposal to choose from, meaning it is hard to see how Lunin would fit in at Signal Iduna Park. And even if both Burki and Hitz depart next summer, the Real Madrid outcast will still need to usurp Kobel to become the first-choice goalkeeper.

Having said that, it looks like Dortmund are ready to make an offer for Lunin, and it remains to be seen if a move can see the light of the day. The Ukrainian goalkeeper is not the only Real Madrid player to be linked with the Bundesliga giants, who also have their sights set on Marco Asensio.
