Barcelona have reportedly rekindled their interest in Spanish youngster Fabio Blanco who plies his trade with German club Eintracht Frankfurt.

According to a report from Catalan publication SPORT, Barcelona have renewed their pursuit of 17-year-old Spanish prodigy Fabio Blanco after having missed out on his capture in the summer.

Blanco is a product of Valencia’s youth academy. The teenage winger is widely regarded as one the brightest young talents in Spain in his age group. So, when he became available for a free transfer in the summer, there was widespread interest in his services.

Indeed, both Barcelona and Real Madrid were keen on securing the signing of the teenage winger while he had also attracted interest from Premier League bigwigs Chelsea and Manchester United. However, Blanco decided to snub a chance to sign for the big clubs and instead ended up securing a transfer to Bundesliga outfit Eintracht Frankfurt.

Since joining the German outfit, Blanco has been involved with the club’s Under-19 side, featuring five times in the U-19 Bundesliga Sud/SudWest. In his five appearances, the former Valencia starlet has produced a handy return of two goals and an assist.

Having missed out on his signing in the summer transfer window, Barcelona have reignited their interest in Blanco and are intent on signing him in January. The Catalans have been forced into recruiting young talents with an eye on the future due to their financial plight. This strategy has led to the signing of players like Yusuf Demir, Kays Ruiz-Atil and Emre Demir, among many others.

In addition, they have also been linked with Dynamo Moscow’s teenage midfielder Arsen Zakharyan, with Blanco also now emerging as a transfer target once again.

The report claims that Barcelona are hoping to sign the winger on loan until the end of the season before making his transfer at the end of the season. They are also hopeful that Eintracht Frankfurt will be willing to agree to a deal involving variable bonus payments and future sell-on percentages in order to save money.

Blanco signed a two-year contract with the Eagles upon his arrival in the summer. What now remains to be seen is if he is willing to bring an end to his time in Germany just six months after making the switch, in order to join Barcelona.
