Real Madrid are reportedly considering Tottenham goal machine Harry Kane as an alternative to Kylian Mbappe and Erling Haaland.

According to a report by Spanish outlet Defensa Central, Real Madrid seem to be keeping their options open when it comes to bolstering their attack in next summer’s transfer window. The Spanish giants have now set their sights on Harry Kane once again, and will make a move for him if they are unable to sign Kylian Mbappe or Erling Haaland.

Harry Kane is widely regarded as one of the best attacking players on the planet, having been a talismanic figure for Tottenham for half a decade or so. However, the 2021/22 season has not kicked off on the best possible note, with the 28-year-old struggling to make his mark after failing to secure a summer move to Manchester City.

So far this season, the English goal machine has failed to score a single goal in the Premier League after six outings, although that does not seem to have deterred Manchester City from continuing to pursue him. Apart from the Premier League champions, Real Madrid also appear to be considering a move for Kane.

Real Madrid had also weighed up the possibility of signing Kane in the summer, when he was viewed as a potential alternative to Kylian Mbappe. In the end, a move for neither player saw the light of the day, with Los Blancos ending the transfer window without an attacking reinforcement.

However, it looks like Real Madrid still remain in the hunt for Kane, who is once again being considered as a fallback option in the scenario they are unable to land Mbappe or Erling Haaland. Indeed, the two young attacking powerhouses are the subjects of interest from the who’s who of Europe, meaning the battle for their signatures will be fought hard.

With that in mind, Kane is a viable target for Real Madrid, who might well have a good chance of snapping up the Tottenham goal machine, with recent reports claiming that Spurs are eyeing Alvaro Morata as a possible replacement for Kane.

What now remains to be seen is if Real Madrid are forced to turn their attention towards Kane for good or if they manage to sign either or both of Mbappe and Haaland. In any case, keeping the England captain as a backup option is a prudent move on the part of the Spanish giants.

  1. That will only happen if we failed to sign Halaand because Kane was our main target a year ago. But we need to try and sign both Halaand and Kylian.
