Manchester United are reportedly among a number of clubs interested in securing the services of Torino’s Brazilian defender Gleison Bremer.

According to a report from Italian publication Fanta Calcio, Manchester United are keeping close tabs on Brazilian defender Gleison Bremer who plies his trade for Serie A outfit Torino.

Bremer came through the ranks at Desportivo Brasil and spent a season on loan at Sao Paulo before sealing a permanent transfer to Atletico Mineiro in 2017. After eighteen months at the club, the centre-back secured a switch to Torino during the summer transfer window of 2018.

Since arriving in Turin, Bremer has become a mainstay at the heart of the backline for Granata. To date, he has managed to make 83 appearances for Torino, scoring 11 goals and setting up four more. His progress with the Italian outfit has seemingly caught the attention of top clubs across Europe.

Bremer has previously attracted interest from Napoli while Juventus and Inter Milan are also keen on the 24-year-old Brazilian. Now, Manchester United too have emerged as a potential suitor for the former Atletico Mineiro defender, with a move in the summer of 2022 being touted.

Manchester United strengthened their backline this summer with the arrival of Raphael Varane from Real Madrid. The Frenchman has looked good in his short time at Old Trafford. Apart from him, the Red Devils also have Harry Maguire, Victor Lindelof, Eric Bailly and Phil Jones on their books while Axel Tuanzebe is away on loan.

However, Jones’ future at Old Trafford is pretty much non-existent while Tuanzebe could make his loan switch to Villa permanent next year. With Bailly also not getting regular game-time, the Ivorian might angle for an exit from Old Trafford, potentially opening up a space in the Manchester United backline for a new defender.

A move for Inter Milan’s star centre-back Milan Skriniar has been touted recently, but Bremer could potentially be a younger and cheaper alternative for Manchester United. This is because the 24-year-old Brazilian will be entering the final year of his contract with Torino at the end of the season.

And, as per the report, Bremer could be made available for a transfer for a reasonable fee of €20-25 million, which should not be an issue for Manchester United. However, with strong interest from Juventus and Inter Milan as well, it remains to be seen if the Red Devils do decide to make a formal approach for the Brazilian.
