Liverpool are reportedly closing in on signing17-year-old Polish prodigy Kacper Kozlowski, who has drawn comparisons to Kevin De Bruyne.

According to a report by Daily Mirror, Liverpool are among a raft of clubs keen on signing Kacper Kozlowski. The 17-year-old Polish wonderkid, who has been compared to Kevin De Bruyne, in his home country, is being looked at over a move in the January transfer window, although Pogon Szczecin are reluctant to part with him this winter.

Kacper Kozlowski is widely regarded as one of the most promising young midfielders in Europe at the moment, having broken into the Pogon Szczecin first-team setup well ahead of his 18th birthday. As a result, he has also been termed as the ‘Polish De Bruyne’, after making such a rapid impression in his homeland.

His progress also earned him a spot in the Polish national squad for UEFA Euro 2020 and this past summer, he became the youngest player of any nationality to play at a European Championship, aged just 17 years and 246 days. The teenage prodigy has started the 2021/22 season strongly as well, with three goals and two assists in 12 appearances so far.

Kozlowski’s advent over the past year or so has invariably attracted some of the biggest clubs across Europe. And one of the latest clubs to have linked with a potential move for the 17-year-old are Liverpool, who are considering a January move for him.

The Reds chose not to bring in a replacement for Georginio Wijnaldum in the summer transfer window, a decision that has not necessarily backfired. However, with James Milner in the twilight of his career, Liverpool could well do with a midfield reinforcement in due course, especially if the struggles of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain continue.

Liverpool have indeed been heavily linked with a number of midfielders in recent times including Franck Kessie, Jude Bellingham and others. To that end, Kozlowski is a viable target for the Merseyside outfit, although signing him in January appears to be out of question as Pogon Szczecin will only let him depart next summer.

Apart from Liverpool, the likes of Bayer Leverkusen, AC Milan, RB Leipzig and Salzburg are also keen on signing the Polish prodigy, who has drawn comparisons with Kevin De Bruyne. However, with a summer move likelier, a transfer battle could be set up in the coming year or so.
