Ajax have reportedly slapped a €40 million price tag on 21-year-old Brazilian attacker, who is being courted by Barcelona.

According to a report by Brazilian outlet UOL Esporte, Barcelona now know how much they will need to shell out in order to secure the services of Antony. Ajax are set to demand as much as €40 million for the 21-year-old Brazilian attacker, with the price tag likely to rise even further as the season progresses.

Antony joined Ajax from Sao Paulo FC in 2020 and has since gone on to establish himself as a key figure for the Dutch giants. And as it has turned out, the youngster has ended up being the sought-after replacement for Hakim Ziyech, filling his void rather well.

The 21-year-old has made a fine start to the 2021/22 season as well, with two goals and as many assists in seven appearances so far. His exploits have also earned Antony his maiden call-up to the Brazilian national side while also capturing the attention of some of the biggest clubs in Europe, one of whom are Barcelona.

The interest from Barcelona makes a lot of sense despite the arrival of three attacking players in Memphis Depay, Sergio Aguero and Luuk de Jong. However, Aguero and de Jong are only short-term investments from the Blaugrana, who are also likely to offload Martin Braithwaite by next summer.

In addition, the fitness woes that have plagued Ousmane Dembele over the course of Barcelona stint means the Catalan giants can do with a wide attacking addition to complement Depay and Ansu Fati. To that end, Antony is a viable target for Barcelona, who could enter the market to sign him next summer.

Apart from Barcelona, a bunch of other clubs are also hot on the trails of the Brazilian attacker, with Bayern Munich among those that are keen on signing him. And now, the La Liga heavyweights know how much they will have to shell out to secure the services of the 21-year-old, who is valued at around €40 million by Ajax.

The report further states that Ajax could bump up the price tag further if his performances continue to remain at a high level. For now, Antony is priced at €40 million by the Dutch giants and it will be interesting to see if Barcelona and other suitors are prepared to meet this valuation when they do make their move for him.
