Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly prepared to make a January move for Dejan Kulusevski, who is valued at around €40 million.

According to AS, Tottenham Hotspur have set their sights on Dejan Kulusevski over a move in the upcoming January transfer window. The club’s managerial director Fabio Paratici knows the Swedish attacker well and wants to bring him to North London in order to add more spice in the offensive unit.

It appears Nuno Espirito Santo is getting frustrated with Harry Kane’s poor performances this season. After missing out on a summer move to Manchester City, the Englishman has failed to score a single goal in the new Premier League campaign, with many critics suggesting that he is actually slowing Spurs down.

As such, Paratici is now ready to reinforce the club’s offensive unit in January by bringing in Kulusevski. Formerly of Atalanta, the talented attacker has had a difficult spell in Juventus so far, after arriving in Turin last summer for a sizable fee of €35 million. He most notably scored just four goals in 35 Serie A matches last term.

Things have gotten even more difficult under new coach Massimiliano Allegri, who is infamous for relying on ageing stars rather than trying his luck with younger players. It has left many Juventus stars facing an uncertain future at the club, including Italy’s Euro 2020 hero Federico Chiesa, who has emerged as a target for both Chelsea and Liverpool.

Weston McKennie, too, was linked with a January move to Aston Villa and it appears Kulusevski is another candidate who could leave Turin in winter. It has put Tottenham on red alert, with the club desperate to find potential attacking alternatives in the final third.

Kulusevski is not a like for like alternative or a replacement for Harry Kane. But he fits the bill well due to his versatility that allows him to operate not only as a winger but also in a central role. He is quick and is blessed with the technical prowess that should bode well for the likes of Kane and Son Heung-min.

The Swedish international’s market value is €40 million but it remains to be seen how much Juventus demand for the 21-year-old in January. Tottenham, after all, have no shortage of alternatives, having also been linked with a swop for another Serie A winger in the form of Mikkel Damsgaard.
