Everton and West Ham United are reportedly considering making a January move for Aaron Ramsey, with Juventus open to offloading the Welshman.

According to an exclusive report from The Sun, Everton and West Ham United are interested in signing former Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey in the winter transfer window from Serie A heavyweights Juventus.

Ramsey spent the majority of his playing career at Arsenal, whom he joined from boyhood club Cardiff City last decade. The 30-year-old sealed a free transfer to Juventus in 2019 but has since struggled to establish a foothold in the starting XI for the Turin-based outfit, with injuries and indifferent form hampering him.

Indeed, to date, Ramsey has managed just 69 appearances for Juventus, despite being in his third season with the club, scoring and assisting six goals apiece. The Wales international is not entirely favoured by returning manager Massimiliano Allegri as indicated by the fact that the midfielder has featured for just 106 minutes in all competitions this season.

Given that Juventus are going through financial difficulties, the club are open to sales in January, with Ramsey, who earns a big pay packet, likely to be on the chopping blocks if suitable offers come in. And, it seems like a pathway back to the Premier League could be laid for the ex-Arsenal midfielder as Everton and West Ham are showing an interest.

Everton had been linked with a move for a new midfielder during the summer window, but no move materialised. However, since then there have been several major developments at the club, which could require the addition of a new midfielder. Gylfi Sigurdsson has been omitted from the club’s official Premier League squad after being allegedly suspended while James Rodriguez has departed the club.

This has left a vacancy in the midfield department and someone like Ramsey, who has the ability to play as a No.8 or a No.10 can be called to fill on, given his experience and proven pedigree in the Premier League. However, the Toffees are likely to face competition from West Ham United, who had been credited with an interest in the 30-year-old during the summer transfer window as well.

With Mark Noble being slowly phased out of the first-team, David Moyes & co. could do with another experienced midfielder within the ranks, especially given that they are playing in Europe this season. And, a player of Ramsey’s experience and knowledge could come in very valuable in that regard.

Apart from Everton and West Ham, Newcastle United are also said to be keen on the ex-Arsenal star. His sketchy injury record and wages, however, could prove to be a stumbling block in any deal going through. It now remains to be seen if Ramsey does end up sealing a return to the Premier League in three months.
