Manchester United are in contention to sign Ousmane Dembele next summer, with the Barcelona forward set to cost €45 million.

According to a report from El Nacional, Manchester United have maintained their interest in Ousmane Dembele. The Premier League giants are closely monitoring the situation of the FC Barcelona winger and are in contention to potentially snap the French international up in January, for a fee of €45 million.

Barcelona are yet to make a definitive decision on the future of Dembele. But there is a significant chance that he could become the club’s main departure, either in January or next summer, with Juventus also interested in his services.

Both the club are aware of the 24-year-old French winger’s injury problems, which has substantially dropped his valuation in the market. It has left Barcelona in a precarious position. The Catalans had already offloaded Antoine Griezmann on deadline day in the summer while also failing to renew the contract of Lionel Messi.

It appears Dembele could be next out of the Camp Nou exit doors as president Joan Laporta continues his complete overhaul of the Barcelona attack. In fact, even Philippe Coutinho has been linked with a January exit, with Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal reportedly eyeing a loan deal.

Manchester United’s interest in Dembele, meanwhile, suggest the fact that the Premier League giants are prepared to further strengthen their offensive unit despite bringing in the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo and Jadon Sancho in the summer.

It might not bode well for Anthony Martial, though, with the Frenchman seemingly losing his importance in Manchester United’s first-team. The arrival of Ronaldo and Sancho has already sent him down the pecking order. The former AS Monaco star has even been linked with a January move to Borussia Dortmund recently.

Martial’s exit could open up the opportunity for Manchester United to sign Dembele. The 24-year-old has been courted by the Red Devils for a long time, with the club hoping that a move away from Barcelona could turn his fortunes around.

Formerly of Stade Rennais and Borussia Dortmund, Dembele’s current contract at Barcelona expires at the end of the season. It means Barcelona will soon have to make a decision on his future if they are to avoid losing him for free next summer.
