Chelsea and Liverpool are reportedly taking a keen interest in signing 23-year-old Italian international Federico Chiesa.

According to a report by Italian outlet Calciomercato, Federico Chiesa has once again popped up on the radars of some of the biggest clubs in Europe over a potential big-money move. The 23-year-old Juventus attacker is being courted by Premier League rivals Chelsea and Liverpool, with Bayern Munich also keen on signing him.

Federico Chiesa is currently on loan at Juventus from Fiorentina, having arrived at the Allianz Stadium in the summer of 2020 on a two-year loan deal. The Italian international has been a resounding success for the Bianconeri, having taken little time to establish himself as a regular before becoming a key figure in Turin.

To date, the 23-year-old has turned out 48 times for Juventus while garnering a return of 15 goals and 10 assists along the way. Chiesa has also gone from strength to strength at international level, having played a key role in Italy’s UEFA Euro 2020 triumph. And his progress has captured the attention of some of the bigwigs Europe, with two of his suitors being Chelsea and Liverpool.

Chelsea were, in fact, keen on signing Chiesa in the summer transfer window only to see a move failing to materialise. The Blues, though, have not ceded their pursuit of the 23-year-old, who is still a key target at Stamford Bridge, which is interesting considering there does not appear to be much of a space in their attacking unit.

Signing Chiesa might, thus, only be possible if one of the rotation players between Hakim Ziyech, Callum Hudson-Odoi and Timo Werner is offloaded. Nevertheless, Chelsea have been linked with several forwards, with Chiesa now on their radar again. Liverpool, on the other hand, have a more urgent need of someone like Chiesa, although their urgency is more keeping the second half of the ongoing season in mind.

Indeed, Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane will be unavailable at the turn of the year for around a month as they will depart for the Africa Cup of Nations. That would leave Jurgen Klopp with Diogo Jota and Roberto Firmino as the only regular attacking players at his disposal. As a result, Liverpool have been linked with a number of attacking players, with Chiesa a viable target as well.

Apart from Chelsea and Liverpool, Bayern Munich are also interested in the UEFA Euro 2020 winner and are likely to launch the offensive for him in due course. However, Juventus are determined to keep hold of Chiesa, who they view as a prized possession, meaning the suitors will have a major battle on hand to secure his services whenever they make their move for him.
