Manchester City have reportedly entered the chase to sign Kylian Mbappe, who is also a priority target for Real Madrid.

According to a report by Spanish outlet Fichajes, the race to sign Kylian Mbappe on a free transfer in next summer’s transfer window is heating up with every passing day. Manchester City have joined the race to sign the French international, who is also a priority target for Real Madrid.

Kylian Mbappe has established himself as one of the best players in the world since breaking onto the scene half a decade ago at AS Monaco. And he has taken his game to the next level at Paris Saint-Germain, becoming a pivotal figure for club and country.

A winner of the 2018 FIFA World Cup with France, the 22-year-old has a brilliant record of 136 goals and 65 assists in 179 appearances for PSG. The Ligue 1 heavyweights, though, are in a bit of a soup over his long-term future, with Mbappe entering the final year of his contract at Parc des Princes. This has alerted several clubs including Real Madrid and Manchester City.

Real Madrid hold a long-standing interest in Mbappe, and were hot on his trails this past summer as well, only for PSG to keep a firm hold on the youngster. The interest, though, has not waned, with the Merengues now plotting a Bosman move for the French international, who could be the long-term successor for Cristiano Ronaldo that has been sought for years now.

Manchester City, on the other hand, are the latest entrants in the race to sign Mbappe and for good reason. The reigning Premier League champions were keen on signing Harry Kane in the summer but were unable to secure his services, just as Real Madrid could not sign Mbappe.

However, the need to bolster the attack appears to be urgent for the Citizens, with Pep Guardiola not having any prolific attacker at his disposal. Signing Mbappe, to that end, will go a long way in addressing that problem, creating a near-perfect squad at the Etihad.

Apart from Mbappe, Manchester City have also been eyeing a move for Benjamin Sesko, who is also a target for Real Madrid. As for the pursuit of the 22-year-old PSG contract rebel, it remains to be seen if City can beat Real Madrid to his signature next summer.
