Manchester United midfielder Donny van de Beek, who continues to struggle for game-time, has emerged as a January transfer target for Inter Milan.

According to a report from Italian publication Calciomercato, Inter Milan have registered an interest in Manchester United midfielder Donny van de Beek and are eyeing a January swoop for the Dutchman who has found game-time hard to come by.

Van de Beek was widely regarded as one of the best up and coming midfielders in the game when he burst onto the scenes at Ajax. A dynamic central midfielder who could score goals or do the job in a deeper role, the 24-year-old was signed by Manchester United in the summer last year amid much fanfare.

However, things have hardly gone as per plans for the Red Devils or the midfielder. Van de Beek has struggled to carve out a place for himself in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s plans since arriving and has spent more time out warming the benches than out on the pitch, despite having scored a goal on his Manchester United debut.

Naturally, there were a lot of speculations over his future this summer. In fact, a switch to fellow Premier League club Everton on loan was close to materialising as well, before Solskjaer decided to block the move as he told the Dutchman that he was a part of his plans for the season.

Despite the promise, van de Beek is yet to see any meaningful game-time in the new season. The only game he started was the Champions League clash against Young Boys during which he was hooked off at half-time due to tactical changes following a red card to Aaron Wan-Bissaka.

Given the unfavourable situation that van de Beek finds himself in, his future will once again be up for discussion heading into the January transfer window. And, it seems like reigning Serie A champions Inter Milan may be willing to offer the 24-year-old midfielder an escape route from Old Trafford during the winter transfer window.

The report claims that Inter Milan have been monitoring the ex-Ajax star for a while now and had even made an attempt to sign him in January earlier this year, but a move had failed to materialise. However, they are now keen on landing him at the turn of the year and have held talks over a potential switch.

Van de Beek, however, wants another shot at proving himself at Manchester United. But if things do not improve over the next couple of months, a departure could very well be on the cards, with Inter Milan now waiting in the wings to swoop for the Netherlands international.
