Barcelona are reportedly weighing up a move for 24-year-old Colombian attacker Luis Diaz, who is also a target for Bayern Munich.
According to a report by Spanish outlet Fichajes, the list of admirers of Luis Diaz just continues to grow with each passing week. The 24-year-old FC Porto attacker has now become the subject of interest from Barcelona, with Bayern Munich also considering a move for him.
Luis Diaz has made swift progress in his career since joining FC Porto from Junior FC in the summer of 2019. A regular feature for the Portuguese giants, the Colombian international has started the 2021/22 season strongly, with five goals and an assist to show for his efforts in just seven outings so far.
This past summer, he also impressed for his national side at the Copa America, having been one of the best players on show in the continental competition. So, it is hardly surprising that the 24-year-old has been linked with some of the biggest clubs in Europe, with Everton unsuccessfully pursuing him in the summer. Now, Barcelona have emerged in pursuit of Diaz.
Barcelona appear to be in the market for an attacking reinforcement, keeping the January transfer window in mind. The Blaugrana are also considering making an emergency signing of a free agent following the injury sustained by Martin Braithwaite, with Paraguayan twins Oscar Romero and Angel Romero on their radar.
As far as the January transfer window is concerned, Raheem Sterling is one of the major targets for Barcelona, who appear to be short on attacking options, seeing as the likes of Ansu Fati, Ousmane Dembele and Braithwaite are on the sidelines with their respective injuries.
Keeping that in mind, Luis Diaz is a viable target for Barcelona, with his ability to play on either flank equally adeptly making him a potential asset. However, the Catalan giants have Bayern Munich for company in pursuit of the 24-year-old FC Porto attacker.
For now, both Barcelona and Bayern are keeping tabs on Diaz and his progression at FC Porto and it will be interesting to see if their interest firms up in the coming weeks and month leading up to the January transfer window.
