Manchester City are prepared to return to the market for Dusan Vlahovic next summer, but face stiff competition from Juventus.

According to an exclusive report from Calciomercato, Dusan Vlahovic continues to face an uncertain future at Fiorentina. The talented forward has his contract expiring in 2023 and although he is open to signing an extension, the player has asked for a release clause that will allow him to leave the club as soon as the interested party meets the valuation.

Manchester City could be that club as they are now prepared to return to the market for Vlahovic next summer. However, the Sky Blues are set to face stiff competition from Juventus, who are believed to be the frontrunners in the race to sign the Serbian international as he looks to take the next step in his career.

Formerly of Partizan, Vlahovic has emerged as one of the most sought-after prospects in Italian football following his breakthrough campaign last term, with the forward netting 21 goals in 37 league outings. He has started the new season on a positive note as well, scoring a total of five goals in four competitive matches.

Aside from his scoring prowess, the Serbian international has raised a lot of eyebrows with his imposing 1.90m frame and physique, making him the desired target man for multiple clubs across Europe. Because of his performances, the Fiorentina forward was even one of Man City’s potential alternatives for Harry Kane in the summer,  but a move did not materialise.

The reigning English champions, though, are still monitoring the forward’s progress in Serie A. He is certainly not the club’s only choice option to fill the void in the number nine role next season, especially with Erling Haaland likely to be available, but the Serbian has certainly made a strong impression with his performances in Italy.

With five goals already, it will be interesting whether Vlahovic manages to maintain his excellent goalscoring record throughout the remainder of the campaign. After all, the 21-year-old could be a cheaper alternative to Haaland, as he is reportedly set to sign a new contract that will include a release clause of €70 million.

It will be quite the bargain for a player who has already hit the ground running and could be the next big thing in Serbian football.
