Liverpool are plotting a move for RB Salzburg wonderkid Karim Adeyemi who continues to go from strength to strength in Austria.

According to Turkish journalist Ekrem Konur on Twitter, Premier League giants Liverpool will make their move to land RB Salzburg wonderkid Karim Adeyemi in January.

The 19-year-old came through the ranks at TSV Forstenried before moving to Bayern Munich in 2010. He spent two years with the Bavarians before switching to Spielvereinigung Unterhaching, where he stayed until 2018.

Adeyemi signed with Austrian giants Red Bull Salzburg in 2018 and spent time on loan at Liefering, where he made his senior bow. He has since gone from strength to strength. The youngster has since made 61 appearances for Salzburg, scoring and assisting 17 goals each.

With Patson Daka sold to Leicester City, Salzburg have discovered another goal-scoring machine in Adeyemi. The player has scored seven goals and made two assists in 11 games this season. A regular now, he also made his bow for the German national side, scoring on his debut.

Primarily a centre-forward, Adeyemi can play anywhere along the frontline. This is good news for Liverpool, who like to have a fluid front three who can interchange positions.

The Reds’ trio of Roberto Firmino, Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah are on their day one of the most fearsome attacks in world football. The trio is, however, nearing 30 and will need to be replaced sooner or later. In Adeyemi, they could get a striker who could become a prolific goalscorer for years to come.

Jurgen Klopp’s side has already raided Leipzig in the past. Takumi Minamino arrived at Anfield in 2020 to mixed success. Whether Adeyemi will join him on Merseyside remains to be seen. Liverpool are set to lose Salah and Mane due to the Africa Cup of Nations. It would make sense for the Reds to supplement their frontline rather than roll the dice.

Barcelona are also keen on the player but keep stalling on the move. He, however, remains on the radar of the Catalan giants, and it remains to be seen if the Reds can seize the initiative. Klopp has built a dominant Liverpool side who can compete alongside the best in world football. The German’s biggest challenge is to rebuild the side so that sustained success is possible.

In Diogo Jota, Harvey Elliott and Ibrahima Konate, Liverpool appear to slowly but steadily infuse youth into their squad. Adding Adeyemi into the mix could very well prove to be a shrewd move in the years to come. While the big guns fight over the likes of Erling Haaland, Liverpool could quietly go about their business and pull off another masterstroke.
