Real Madrid are reportedly the latest club to register an interest in RB Leipzig star Dani Olmo, who is also being tailed by Barcelona and Manchester United.

According to a report from Transfermarkt.de, as relayed by Transfer Market Web, Real Madrid have entered the race to sign RB Leipzig and Spain attacking midfielder Dani Olmo, who is also a transfer target for rivals Barcelona and Premier League bigwigs Manchester United.

Olmo has grown into one of the most in-demand attacking midfielders in Europe since breaking out at Croatian outfit Dinamo Zagreb, whom he signed for in 2014 from Barcelona’s La Masia youth setup. Having risen to prominence, the 23-year-old ended up making the switch to Leipzig in January last year where has gone from strength to strength.

A key player for the club, Olmo has also become an integral member of the Spanish national team, impressing heavily in the UEFA Euro 2020 earlier this summer. His rise to prominence has once again put the versatile midfielder on the radars of several top clubs, including boyhood team Barcelona.

The Catalans tried to sign Olmo back on the transfer deadline day last month but a move failed to materialise as Leipzig were unwilling to do business so late in the window. However, Barcelona have continued to hold an interest in the midfielder ever since and have even planned talks with the German club over his signing next year.

Considering that he can play as an attacking midfielder or on the flanks, the Spaniard can fill in various positions for the Blaugrana while also forming a part of the young core that Barca are building, alongside the likes of Pedri, Frenkie de Jong, Memphis Depay & co. However, the Catalans have to stave off interest from arch-rivals Real Madrid.

The Spanish capital outfit will be needing a long-term replacement for veteran midfielder Luka Modric, who is in the twilight of his career and the final year of his contract as well. Furthermore, with Eden Hazard failing to get going as expected and the future of Isco uncertain, someone like Olmo can be a top signing for Los Blancos.

Apart from Real Madrid and Barcelona, Manchester United, too are interested in signing the Spanish international. The Red Devils have a stocked attacking unit as things stand, with a plethora of quality options in each position in the final third. So, signing Olmo would be a luxury that can be avoided although he could be looked at as a replacement for Jesse Lingard whose contract runs out next year.

The report further adds that Juventus and Bayern Munich are also looking at Olmo as a target for the summer. So, as things stand, it seems like the 23-year-old could spark a major transfer war among several A-listers of Europe next year. It now remains to be seen where he ends up in 2022.
