Arsenal, Manchester City and Chelsea are set for a transfer battle for the services of Bayer Leverkusen whizkid Florian Wirtz next summer.

A recent report from Fichajes cites English media claims regarding Florian Wirtz, who is apparently courted by multiple English clubs including Manchester City, Chelsea and Arsenal. Tottenham Hotspur, too, are in the market for the Bayer Leverkusen youngster who recently made his debut in the German national team.

A product of the 1.FC Koln youth academy, Wirtz has made a solid impression in the Bundesliga since joining Leverkusen at the start of last year. He made seven league appearances during the second half of the 2019/20 campaign, before enjoying his breakthrough season last term, being involved in 11 goals in 29 appearances.

Wirtz’s contributions were critical in helping Leverkusen achieve a fifth-place finish in the league and secure Europa League football. It has also catapulted him into becoming one of the most talented youngsters in world football, alongside the likes of Jude Bellingham and Jamal Musiala.

The 18-year-old should not find any problems finding any suitors either, with reigning European champions Chelsea interested in his services. It appears Thomas Tuchel is keen on signing the Leverkusen youngster, especially if Timo Werner leaves the club next summer, having already been linked with a move to Borussia Dortmund.

Chelsea, though, are set to face stiff competition from Manchester City. With Bernardo Silva facing an uncertain future at the club, Pep Guardiola would be keen on extending his options in the creative department, with Wirtz fitting the bill perfectly due to his age and potential of becoming one of the best playmakers in world football.

Aside from these top two clubs in England right now, North London duo Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur are also keen on securing the services of the 18-year-old next summer. However, they are only outsiders in this case and their offers might not be considered by the player if they continue to underperform and fail to secure Champions League football.

Either way, the major hurdle for the likes of Chelsea, Manchester City and Arsenal in pursuit of Florian Wirtz will be Bayern Munich. The Bavarians have made it clear that they want the Leverkusen whizkid to sign for them next season, as a long-term replacement for Thomas Muller and a potential alternative for Kingsley Coman, who could be set for an exit amid Liverpool interest.
