Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba is reportedly open to signing a new contract amid speculations of a Bosman exit next summer.

According to a report from Sky Sports, Manchester United superstar Paul Pogba is considering a U-turn on his contract situation and is leaning towards signing an extension with the Premier League bigwigs.

Signed from Juventus in a club-record deal back in 2016, Pogba hasn’t always been able to perform at his best for Manchester United during his second stint with the club. While there have been plenty of positive moments, they have not come as consistently as fans would have liked.

However, things have taken a turn for the better since the turn of the year as the Frenchman played a big role in Manchester United finishing as the runners-up in the Premier League and the UEFA Europa League last term. He has made a sensational start to the new campaign, having bagged a whopping seven assists in four Premier League matches.

Pogba’s future, however, has been a subject of discussion for quite some time now, considering that he entered the final year of his contract with the Red Devils. His agent, Mino Raiola, hinted in December last year that he would not be renewing his deal at United. There have been few indications from the player himself over the possibility of an extension.

This has led to rumours of a free transfer to Real Madrid on the horizon next year. However, that stance could be set to change now as per the aforementioned report from Sky Sports.

It is claimed that Pogba is now reconsidering his contract situation and is, in fact, leaning towards the possibility of signing a new deal. This turnaround has been brought about by Manchester United’s impressive recruitment in the summer transfer window. The Red Devils signed Jadon Sancho and Raphael Varane to bolster the first-team.

But the icing on top was the late recruitment of club icon Cristiano Ronaldo, who has made a stunning start to life back at Manchester United, scoring three goals in two games already. The recruitment and the direction in which the club seem to be heading under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has led to Pogba mulling over the possibility of signing a new deal, as per the report.

Manchester United boss Solskjaer has insisted that winning trophies will be key to convince the Frenchman to commit his future to the club. And it remains to be seen if that is the course Pogba’s future takes or if he decides to move on again on a free transfer from Old Trafford.
