Real Madrid are reportedly interested in signing Valencia midfielder Carlos Soler, who has been in red hot form since the start of the new season.

According to a report from Spanish publication Defensa Central, Real Madrid have set their sights on Valencia and Spain midfield star Carlos Soler after his splendid start to the new season.

The 24-year-old Soler is a product of the Valencia youth setup. Having broken into the senior setup around half a decade ago, he has grown into a pivotal part of the side, going on to make 188 appearances, in which he has 26 goals and 26 assists each.

After enjoying a highly impressive 2020/21 season in which he contributed 12 goals and 9 assists, Soler has started the new season in a similar vein of form, having scored three in three La Liga matches. On the back of his performances, the 24-year-old made his international debut for Spain earlier this month and scored in his first and second matches while impressing in the third game as well.

Soler’s impressive start to the season has seen him attract interest from several clubs in England and Europe. Liverpool and Arsenal are two clubs who are said to be keen on the Valencia star, with Real Madrid also now entering the race for the signing of the Spaniard.

Real Madrid strengthened their midfield unit with the signing of Eduardo Camavinga earlier this summer. However, there will be a need for more reinforcements in the near future considering as Luka Modric turned 36 earlier this week and is in the final year of his contract with Los Blancos.

Furthermore, Modric is also attracting interest from Premier League champions Manchester City. In addition, Toni Kroos is no spring chicken anymore either and will need his game-time managed carefully going forward, which necessitates the addition of a new midfielder in the summer next year.

Soler, to that end, is viewed as a viable option to bolster the midfield department at the Santiago Bernabeu next year. The 24-year-old has a release clause worth €150 million, but with less than two years left on his deal, Valencia could be forced to sell him for a much lesser fee in 2022 when he will enter the final 12 months of his deal.

Given the mounting interest in his services, it remains to be seen whether Soler stays at Valencia or ends up leaving for a different club in 2022. If so, it will be interesting to see if Real Madrid come out on top in the race to sign the Spanish international.
